MOSAIC Named Next Great A Cappella Group By Boyz II Men

Las Vegas music act excited to have made national debut on CBS.

MOSAIC, the Las Vegas-based music group seen sharing stage time with comedian George Wallace throughout 2007 was named the “Next Great A Cappella Group” on “The Early Show.” The nationwide search was judged by Boyz II Men, the best-selling Motown group ever, and the winner determined in late December. Today, MOSAIC received the grand prize – national airtime performing on CBS’ “ The Early Show” today.

MOSAIC is comprised of six members that include Josh Huslig, Sean Gerrity, Corwyn Hodge, Troy Dolendo, Heath Burgett and John Gibson. Huslig founded the group three years ago while living in Orlando, Fla. Each of the members was working in entertainment and connected musically through one another.

Since moving to Las Vegas in late 2006, MOSAIC has performed as a special guest of the George Wallace show at the Flamingo Las Vegas as well as quickly establishing themselves as a favorite for private events. The group’s act covers a range of songs while mixing elements of funk, jazz, hip-hop and even opera to create a sound all their own. Heard live, it is almost hard to believe that every sound is vocally produced. In addition, the group has arranged original songs that they are working into an upcoming album.

After surviving many rounds of the national search MOSAIC was announced the winner by Boyz II Men artist Shawn Stockman who commented, “you could tell they’ve been doing this together for a long time.” Nathan Morris, Boyz II Men bandmate, added “they sound incredible.”

MOSAIC aims to be the next “big group” and hopes that notoriety from the competition brings them closer to their goals and puts a new face on a capella music.

George Wallace Show Review

I had an opportunity to check out George Wallace's show at the Flamingo the other night. It was quite impressive. First, you were entertained by the sounds of War. If you're unfamiliar with their music, two of their hit songs are Why Can't We Be Friends and Lowrider. Next up was Mr. Wallace. This guy is STILL funny. I've seen him only on TV, so to finally see him live was very cool. George also brought up a great singing group, in which he affectionately calls his kids, by the name of Mosaic. I don't know how often they roll through the show. Hopefully you'll get to see them when you go.

George Wallace is in his fourth year as a headliner at the Flamingo and packs the showroom every night with hundreds of laughing fans. Known best for his “Yo Mama” jokes and his infamous “I Be Thinkin” lines, Wallace creates a one-on-one atmosphere with his audiences, including them in the show and giving away a multitude of prizes during each performance. WAR AT THE FLAMINGO!!!

Multicultural Crossover Phenomenon with Comedian George Wallace, January 15-26

The legendary funk band WAR has been tapped by resident comedian headliner George Wallace to share the stage for two weeks in January 2008. Following up the hugely successful visit by Sly and the Family Stone earlier this year Wallace personally chose WAR to extend an invitation to continue the excitement on stage at the Flamingo Showroom.

Performing January 15-26 at 10:00 p.m. WAR will rock audiences with their eclectic fusion of rock, funk, jazz, Latin music, R&B and even reggae. This combination has given the band an enduring musical career and sales in excess of more than 50 million records. First popular in the 1970s, WAR’s multi-ethnic line-up transcended racial and cultural barriers. With lyrics often socially aware in nature, but with a laid-back funk vibe to jam to classic hits include “Lowrider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “Cisco Kid, “Gypsy Man,” “Summer” and many more.

WAR is a permanent part of America’s cultural landscape with a tour schedule of more than 150 dates per year as well as countless songs in hit TV shows, movies and commercials. Other artist’s use of the band’s songs have kept WAR relevant in the music scene and reinvigorated their presence with younger audiences.

“We look forward to starting the year out right by performing with George Wallace at the fabulous Flamingo Showroom,” said Jordan. “WAR’s music is street music with a breath of comedic lyrics and with George Wallace’s side-splitting comedy will bring audiences to their feet laughing, singing, reminiscing and having one of the most entertaining nights of their lives.”

Excited to have WAR join him on stage, George Wallace stated “The greatest message ever and something I preach every night is –Why can’t we be friends?” taking a line from one of WAR’s popular tunes. “The only war we need is at the Flamingo,” added Wallace.
