Glam Slam - DJ cb shaw - DJ Spotlight

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, cb shaw has been rocking audiences internationally for over 10 years with his one-of-a-kind custom live DJ remixes. cb is the pioneer of the "Glam Slam" DJ style, incorporating almost every musical style into his dance floor friendly DJ mixes.

This new style mashes together 80's Favorites, Rock, Metal, Hip-Hop, Dance Classics, even old TV themes and movie dialog, all blended together over slamming new beats. His unique genre- blending style has enabled him to open for everyone from Beastie Boys' DJ Mix Master Mike, to Electronic Dance Music legend Paul Oakenfold.

His bizarre talent of scratching the turntables with his tongue earned him the opportunity to teach legendary porn star Ron Jeremy how to scratch the wax for an infomercial. How many men can say they taught Ron Jeremy something?

cb shaw is just a dangerous with a microphone as he is behind a set of turntables. His live musical show blends cb's unique vocals and remixed beats with live musicians and hot go-go dancers

Over the past year, cb has uploaded over 250,000 copies of his DJ mixes and original vocal tracks to fans worldwide. The song "80's Lover" received over 50,000 downloads in less than two months alone! cbshaw.com is currently receiving over 1 million hits monthly, and his MySpace page is flooded with friend requests from all over the world.

cb shaw has built a strong fan base across North America, performing at many of the USA"s premier venues, including the legendary "First Ave" night club in Minneapolis, where Prince's movie "Purple Rain" was filmed. He has rocked many top clubs, like Las Vegas' "Pure" - the #1 nightclub in America.

His strong MySpace following lead to a headlining slot at one of the famous "Rubber" parties in Orange County. After which, cb was given the honor of playing the main stage at the 14th Annual "Pimp N Ho Ball" in Las Vegas, the largest 21+ event in America, which draws 10,000 people each year.

cb has an incredibly strong and instantly recognizable brand. His phallic-shaped "cb" logo can be seen on t-shirts, hats, and undergarments worldwide. His cb emblazoned clothing line has exploded over the past few months, with everyone from Kids to Playboy Playmates rocking the instantly recognizable symbol.

Breaking into the mainstream consciousness, cb was recently hired by Walt Disney to mash together three of their theme songs for a special Television event.

Having been one of the founding fathers of the "Mash Up" movement, cb shaw has now become the first of yet another kind of entertainer - The "video remix" artist. Using special computer-coded records, cb shaw is now able to mash up and remix music videos the same way he used to remix traditional music, using turntables!

Keeping in the "Glam Slam" tradition, cb shaw's video mixes mashes together the best from T.V. shows, movies, cartoons, even old T.V. commercials, all blended over the music videos from your favorite songs! Watching cb shaw mix live video using vinyl and turntables is truly watching history in the making!

The word about his video remixes is spreading quickly. In the last 6 months, over 450,000 of his video remixes have been downloaded from YouTube.com.

DJ Spotlight: DJ Jack Lafleur

Photo By: My good friend Eric Ita. To view more of his work, please visit his website, www.ericitaphotography.com.

I really wanted to do a kick ass write up on Mr. Jack Lafleur, but he beat me to it. I think what he wrote in his bio sums up what Jack is all about. What follows is Jack in his own words via his website www.jacklafleur.com.

Many people struggle to find moments in their lives that change them forever. It was a cold January night in Boston when Josh Wink played a set putting an indelible stamp on me. On this night, I formed a band with House Music so strong it would ultimately lead me to walk away from all my successes and focus solely on my passion: House Music.

In 2002 I bought my first set of turntables and within a month I had my first gig. In the span of 4 short years, I shot up the ranks from an industry unknown to Director of Promotions for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. During this rise, I served as the creator or co-creator of some of the most successful parties in Vegas: Rehab Sundays, Worship Thursdays, Indulge Fridays, and Sunday School.

And then I walked away from it all.

Through all these achievements, I was left with little time for my love affair with House Music. So, in November of 2005, I added DJing to my duties of promoting Rehab, along with Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Body English. I started spinning special Vocal and Electro House sets in the side room called "The Parlor" at Body English during their raucous Sunday School parties. This secret "invite only" party quickly built steam and has now become the most talked about room for House Music in Vegas.

The success and enthusiasm for Sunday nights in The Parlor parlayed into Body English forming a partnership with Ministry of Sound for Wednesday nights, at which I served as Resident DJ.

Having now severed my ties to my "day job" with the Hard Rock, my sole focus is devoted to DJing. In the past, I had to turn down requests to play in San Francisco, LA, Santa Barbara, Chicago, New York, Dallas, and London...

My career begins anew: I am now a DJ.

DJ Spotlight: DJ Faarsheed

Stated by Neil Moffit (Godskitchen, Inc.) as “the DJ to look out for,” Faarsheed has proven to be a solid fixture in the dance music world. He has been playing alongside the biggest and best dj’s from across the globe for years. He began playing major events with Spundae, Las Vegas and Los Angeles in 2001, and from there, he has worked his way up to become part of the prestigious Godskitchen and Ice family, and a permanent fixture as a Godskitchen/Ice resident in Las Vegas. In 2006 when ICE closed, Faarsheed began taking his show on the road touring most of the major cities throughout North and Central America, and the demand grows with every performance. His style is unique and hard to pinpoint or label, but you can count on hearing a bit of deep, sexy, twisted, emotional, baseline and musically driven progressive tech and acid sounds including many of his own original productions and remixes which are now seeing long awaited release dates. His acute ear for a tune, rigorous work ethic, programming skills, crowd recognition, and a technical ability that is second to none, have led him through a consistent climb approaching new levels in his career. If you have seen him live recently, you already know that he uses a minimum of 3 decks (usually 4), along with the pioneer efx1000 effects processor, and some looping to give his sets a unique edge crafting live on the fly remixes for the crowd.

Playing a big role at the legendary Godskitchen and ICE parties has quickly made Faarsheed into a familiar name around the globe. He has repeatedly rocked crowds from all over the world, whether it be playing his memorable headlining sets, or playing alongside the world's most talented artists: Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, John Digweed, Sasha, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Ferry Corsten, Erick Morillo, Max Graham, Roger Sanchez and many more. Almost every headlining dj that came through Las Vegas in the past 5 years has requested Faarsheed’s presence behind the decks as the opener or co-headliner. With many years of experience behind his belt at a young age, Faarsheed has mastered the art of being a real “opening dj” and has shown time and time again how to properly set up any dj, with any musical style. BUT NOW, more importantly, he has gained enough experience and knowledge to emotionally, mentally, and physically move any crowd, anywhere, at any given time, as the “headlining act”.

In 2005, Miller Brewing Company saw the potential in this rising talent, and signed with Faarsheed as an official sponsor. With the national air of “The Club” on Spike TV (2004-2005) with Faarsheed as the resident Dj on the show (filmed at Godskitchen/Ice_Las_Vegas), he has gained more fans from around the globe and has expanded his horizons in 2005 with original productions in the works, and a new tour schedule hitting North America and Eastern Europe. The tour kicked off early 2005 in various American cities as part of a publicity tour representing Ice/Godskitchen, Las Vegas and Spike TV’s “The Club”. The first stop was Nikki Beach, Miami (WMC 2005) for the Radio 1 “In New Music We Trust, The USA Tour 2005” party. Faarsheed closed the night inside the Global Gathering Room (the main room) with a legendary performance…This was a party which headlined over 25 of the worlds most talented dj’s/producers, drew over 20,000 people, and has been repeatedly stated to be the best party of the Winter Music Conference.

In 2006/2007, Faarsheed has been voted into the DJ Mag Top 250 DJ elite in the world, and continues to make his stamp in the dance music scene with his dedication and hard work. Completing his ICE residency (with the closing of ICE), and his 1 year Afterhours residency at Late Night Empire, Faarsheed has started a promising new residency at JET Las Vegas and is consistently touring all the big cities in North America as well countries like Mexico, Turkey, Canada, and more. With his hectic schedule, Faarsheed has still managed to find time for the studio, focusing on new original tracks, remixes, and unique edits using Ableton Live, tracks that can only be heard in his newer mixes and live sets. At 2007’s WMC, he showed off his skills once again at clubs like Space, Nikki Beach, Prive, and more. In the summer of 2007 you will see an array of releases with Faarsheed’s name on it on various record labels. You can see him live, hear him on Sirius Satellite radio regularly, or even get a glimpse of what he has been up to on his 2006 Promo DVD. His 2 most memorable sets of 2006 were 1) at the WMC (2006) where Faarsheed played a peak slot, for 5 hours, on the Terrace at Nocturnal in Miami to a packed house, full of music lovers, who have been raving about his skills and energy behind the decks ever since and 2) at the ICE closing Party where he played an emotional 12 hour set into 2pm the next day, closing down the doors of the legendary club that helped put Vegas back on the map for electronic music, with a full dance floor of people still not wanting to leave.

The past few years have been very bright for Faarsheed, yet the future looks even more promising as he continues to create massive buzz everywhere he goes.

DJ Spotlight: DJ Jackie Christie

Detroit-born DJ Jackie Christie started spinning at 16. Cherished by MTV’s The Grind, she soon moved to New York and landed her first New York City residency at the famed Limelight.

Throughout the nineties, Jackie was omnipresent in the high point of club culture as a resident at some of the most sought-after clubs in the USA – the Limelight, Storm Raves, NASA at The Shelter, the Tunnel, Life, and at the Studio 54 hosted by Bacardi and Details Magazine.

In summer of 1997, Jackie Christie, under the name Shine, released her first single Bitch, followed up with Stimulating and Exciting (Groovillicious Records). A few years later, Jackie’s Hot and Tasty Beats was released, by Nervous Records. It is a compilation of club anthems, mixed with the energy and expertise the people have regularly come to expect from this Queen of Clubs.

"I love gathering diverse talents around me and creating something new, fresh, trying new things, breaking down barriers and expectations," Jackie says.

Her career has shifted into high gear with the release of her debut album, Made 4 U, on which she brings home her vision of nightlife via eleven radiant tracks. The album was co-produced with Shane X. Conry, Jackie’s friend and a collaborator in remixing Madonna's Nothing Fails. The single made #1 on the Billboard Club Chart and stayed on for 26 weeks. The first single Beautiful Day went to #14 on the Billboard Club Chart. "I find strength, spice in variety: Just as I have a wonderfully rich mix of people in my life, so does the album.”

Jackie's skills, reputation, and passion for people have also earned her spots spinning at mega-clubs alongside Sasha, Digweed, Moby, and Carl Cox; hosting the Closing party of Club Universe with Cindy Lauper in San Francisco, and being mentioned in a book that soaked an era of New York City, Brett Easton Ellis’s Glamorama.

Jackie’s music has also been heard in “Beauty Shop,” starring Queen Latifah, “Street Time” series on Showtime, Jenna Jameson’s One Hundred Hottest Hotties on VH1, and on previously mentioned MTV.

As evolved as ever, Jackie Christie continues to DJ in her hometown of New York City, and around the world. Currently, you can find DJ Jackie Christie spinning at Caramel inside Bellagio, in Las Vegas.
