The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge July 2008 Schedule

LIVE REVOLUTION Schedule for July 2008
Tuesday nights erupt with LIVE REVOLUTION. In conjunction with “America’s coolest radio station,” LA’s Indie 103.1 FM, LIVE brings under-the-radar and up-and-coming indie-rock groups from the U.S. and abroad. LIVE transforms the intimate venue into one with a raucous, Lower East Side tinge, supported by members of the all-vinyl Bargain DJ Collective.
TUESDAY, JULY 1
The Boxing Lesson
Austin-bred band, The Boxing Lesson, is throwing out all the punches with their unapologetic hybrid sound that is self-described as “part organic, part electronic, part outer… space.” Joined by Grammy-nominated producer Tim Gerron, the group’s latest album, Wild Streaks & Windy Days is a simultaneously modern and classic journey through the dark side of the conscious mind, as described on their MySpace website. The Onion calls them “a hard-charging trio,” and The Austin Chronicle praises them for “opening a Pandora’s box of psychedelia.” http://www.myspace.com/theboxinglesson
Mostly Bears
Having just recently completed a West Coast tour and releasing their first full-length album, The Ed Mitchell Clinic, Mostly Bears has set out to rule the experimental rock scene with a fusion of alternative, progressive and new indie rock. Hailing from Tucson, Ariz., the trio was named ‘Best New Band or Artist’ in 2007 by Tucson Weekly. With their hot new single “Melancholyism,” playing in front of sold-out venues is a far cry from the days working as a librarian, lifeguard and bookkeeper’s assistant. http://www.myspace.com/mostlybears
The Union Line
Fresh out of Orange County, unsigned indie group The Union Line has channeled their creativity into buzz-worthy performances throughout Southern California. The Union Line’s latest singles “Strangers” and “Rich Man’s Tune” radiate through the band’s website, which loosely describes their sound as a touch of soul with western swing. http://www.myspace.com/theunionline
TUESDAY, JULY 8
The Feelings Mutual
Formed in mid-2007, The Feelings Mutual is just one of the latest breakthrough bands bursting through the indie rock industry. With a debut EP and regional tour under their belt, this vivacious trio from San Diego is already featured on iTunes. Distinct and fresh, music critics are comparing their new age sound to The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. and even to Queens of the Stone Age. The Feelings Mutual will be touring through 2008 making waves with their hit singles “Monolith” and “Soul Korea.” http://www.myspace.com/thefeelingsmutual
The Fling
Orlando-based soul band members of The Fling are a huge fan of the blues. Borrowing ideas from the past and an array of varying musical influences, this quartet describes itself as a “loud, versatile and intense genre-bending rock ‘n’ roll band.” With the independent release of their debut EP in 2006 – on Halloween, of all days – The Fling has quickly risen out of obscurity and into the recording studio, writing and recording 14 new songs under their recently-signed label, Flatfoot Records. The group, currently on tour, is preparing for the release of their sophomore album. http://www.myspace.com/theflingpage
TUESDAY, JULY 15
Oslo
Oslo recently recorded their forthcoming sophomore release, The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate, which they co-produced with Grammy Nominated engineer/mixer Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mickey P (Beck, Peaches, The Eels) and Sam Fogarino (Interpol). PopMatters.com describes the CD as “part shoegaze, part understated soft-loud dynamic, with a little Interpol and Oasis thrown in, but all dreamy rock through and through.” Gabriel McNair—founder of Oslo— spent the better part of a decade touring as a multi-instrumentalist for ska-popsters No Doubt. http://www.myspace.com/oslo
The Vinyl Clouds
Vegas-based band, The Vinyl Clouds current incarnation, consisting of Dennis Osinski, Warren Duprey and Chris Nichols have only been making music together since the top of 2007. With influences as eclectic as the Who, Pink Floyd, Blink 182, The Stones and the Cars, they produce a new wave rock sound that is completely their own. The Vinyl Clouds proclaim themselves as a small group of up and coming indie bands that are destined to create some excitement amongst an otherwise lethargic music scene. www.myspace.com/thevinylclouds
Hey Mister
Hey Mister has been taking the Las Vegas indie music scene by storm. By early 2008, the band recorded and released their debut EP, Buy! Borrow! Steal! on its own vanity label, MIMORTL Records. They have garnered regular airplay on Area 107.9-FM in Las Vegas as well as internet radio stations Bolt.fm and IRADIOLA.COM. The quartet describe their music as strong with killer hooks, irresistible rhythms and sing-along melodies the likes of which are rarely seen rising from the dustbowl of the Vegas Valley. www.myspace.com/heymisterlv
TUESDAY, JULY 22
The Filthy Souls
Composed of Dave Green (vocals/guitar), Anthony Lavin (guitar/backing vocals), Barry Robinson
(bass) and Marc Hogan (drums), this indie-rock quartet is touring to introduce their U.K. sound to the U.S. market. ManchesterMusic.com raves, “[Dave] Green digs out wondrous, blistering, off kilter guitar breaks and solid chorus lines, where teeth are gritted and energy almost explode.” http://www.myspace.com/thefilthysoulsmusic
The Start
Aimee Echo and Jamie Miller joined to form this new-wave rock duo. They have just released their third album, Ciao Baby, with Miller composing the music and playing every instrument on the record and Echo writing all the lyrics. The Start has toured with many high profile bands including Garbage, She Wants Revenge, Joan Jett, Weezer, Incubus and AFI, just to name a few. http://www.myspace.com/thestart
The Day After
The Day After…— named “the Band to Watch for 2007” by Rolling Stone Magazine— has been taking stages across the Las Vegas valley with songs from its latest album release to showcase their native Vegas rock sound. Jenine Cali leads the band with edgy vocals along with KC Wells on bass and Daniel Kloza playing drums. P.J. Perez with Rolling Stone Magazine describes the band as, “"A dense onslaught of guitar and wailing vocals that wears its rock & roll heart on its black-T-shirt sleeve." http://www.myspace.com/tda
TUESDAY, JULY 29
