Known as one of the first commercially successful rappers and the first to sign a major record label, towering figure in hip-hop history, Kurtis Blow, brings his multi-talented skills to Las Vegas.
Kurtis Blow paved the way for rap music artists such as Grandmaster Flash and Run-D.M.C. Blow was the first rapper to have a single certified gold, the first to embark on a national concert tour and the first to cement rap’s mainstream marketability by signing an endorsement deal. His hit single, “The Breaks,” hit the top five of the R&B charts in 1980 and still ranks as one of old-school rap’s greatest and most enduring chart-topping moments.
Slide at Tabú Ultra Lounge highlights Thursday nights as the best in past and present of hip-hop culture. The evening pays homage to the art of break dancing where B-boys and B-girls showcase their skills on the intimate dance floor.
