Writer Spotlight: Xania Woodman & Jack Colton "Nightlife Glossary"
Superstar writers Xania Woodman and Jack Colton got together to educate the masses with a nightlife lexicon, so that we'd fully be prepared to chat it up with those in the "industry". Their article can be found in this weeks issue of Las Vegas Weekly. I looked for the website version, but couldn't find anything. So, here is just a sampling of the verbiage and it's definition.
Bachelor: A soon-to-be-married male who plans on absolutely "tearing up" Las Vegas with his five best friends from college. While not entirely foolproof, their ingenious plan of attack is to have everyone wear matching blue-and-white-striped collared shirts, get drunk off of Budweisers and Long Islands and hit on poor defenseless women up and down the Strip until the sun rises and they pile back into the hotel room they share. Gosh, Vegas will never be the same.
Bachelorette: A soon-to-be-married female who, while she may conduct herself in a totally professional manner in the outside world, feels it entirely necessary to use this as an opportunity to submit to her so-called friends' entreaties to don blinking plastic penises and make a complete jackassette of herself in public. Why? Because she can.
Nightclub Photographer: The one who makes his or her way through crowds of drunken revelers in order to meet their picture quota for the night--usually for a website-based company--so that the rest of us can wake up to a small glimpse of how stupid we were the night before. See also: blackmail, proof, divorce. ***Jeremy Side Note: I'm glad I no longer have a quota. HAHAHA.***
The Grenade: Often seen in a group of fairly good-looking females, the grenade is the not-so-pretty one of the pack that an unlucky member of a group of guys is elected to pounce on--or in this instance, hit on--so the rest of the team has a chance of scoring some action.
Photog: Shortened industry jargon for photographer; lets the people around you know that you are the shit. Period. ***Jeremy Side Note: Ahhhh, what I life I lead!***
***Personal Favorite*** Wannabe Baller: The asshole wearing sunglasses inside a dark nightclub, attempting to get action by making it rain...with $20 in singles. ***Jeremy Side Note: I wonder if this is referenced to anyone in particular, HAHAHA.***

Lights Out for Light Nightclub was one of the better parties I've been to this year. I saw so many friends, I lost count. These days in Vegas, a 5 year run for a nightclub, is really unheard of. Most nightclubs last 3, maybe 4 years. Kudos to Light for pulling off such a feat. Now, we wait 6 months for the new club, The Bank, to replace Light. The Bank's grand opening should be New Years Eve. I patiently wait.
You know...I always get told, WOW, you must love your job. My answer...YES I DO. I think the pictures above indicate why.

DJ Spotlight: DJ Roonie G

Let's see, we had ninja master gogo dancers, people buying Magnum size bottles of Dom Perignon, cocktail waitress' with so much energy they were jumping up and down on the couch (see above photo), several bachelorette parties, a Red Bull devil, and the sad news that Vegas nightclub staple Sarah is moving to Hawaii. All in a nights work.
Sarah, you will be missed. I hope things are just exciting for you in Hawaii as they were in Vegas.

I think I've come to the conclusion that Hard Rock, notably Body English, is Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson's hang out. I've taken their photo a few times there. It's so interesting though. Their body guards only let people like myself, "professionals", take the couples photo. I saw "normal" fans wanting to take the couples photo, and they were either waved off, or flashlights were showing in the cameras lens, so they couldn't get a good shot. Interesting.

DJ Spotlight: DJ Jackie Christie
Detroit-born DJ Jackie Christie started spinning at 16. Cherished by MTV’s The Grind, she soon moved to New York and landed her first New York City residency at the famed Limelight.
Throughout the nineties, Jackie was omnipresent in the high point of club culture as a resident at some of the most sought-after clubs in the USA – the Limelight, Storm Raves, NASA at The Shelter, the Tunnel, Life, and at the Studio 54 hosted by Bacardi and Details Magazine.
In summer of 1997, Jackie Christie, under the name Shine, released her first single Bitch, followed up with Stimulating and Exciting (Groovillicious Records). A few years later, Jackie’s Hot and Tasty Beats was released, by Nervous Records. It is a compilation of club anthems, mixed with the energy and expertise the people have regularly come to expect from this Queen of Clubs.
"I love gathering diverse talents around me and creating something new, fresh, trying new things, breaking down barriers and expectations," Jackie says.
Her career has shifted into high gear with the release of her debut album, Made 4 U, on which she brings home her vision of nightlife via eleven radiant tracks. The album was co-produced with Shane X. Conry, Jackie’s friend and a collaborator in remixing Madonna's Nothing Fails. The single made #1 on the Billboard Club Chart and stayed on for 26 weeks. The first single Beautiful Day went to #14 on the Billboard Club Chart. "I find strength, spice in variety: Just as I have a wonderfully rich mix of people in my life, so does the album.”
Jackie's skills, reputation, and passion for people have also earned her spots spinning at mega-clubs alongside Sasha, Digweed, Moby, and Carl Cox; hosting the Closing party of Club Universe with Cindy Lauper in San Francisco, and being mentioned in a book that soaked an era of New York City, Brett Easton Ellis’s Glamorama.
Jackie’s music has also been heard in “Beauty Shop,” starring Queen Latifah, “Street Time” series on Showtime, Jenna Jameson’s One Hundred Hottest Hotties on VH1, and on previously mentioned MTV.

The Model Industry Online Community, AmericanModel.com, had a bikini contest / model search on stage and Playboy Model Sara Stokes was celebrating her B-Day. Also present was world-renown body painter Pashur, working his magic on three beautiful women.

RA Sushi Launches “RA”ckin’ New Menu

Yellow Monkey Roll Enhance Existing Menu, Among Other Additions
LAS VEGAS – August 13, 2007 - RA Sushi Bar Restaurant, located at the Fashion Show Mall, has debuted a new menu by adding 14 new selections to its existing fare. The 14 new arrivals include a combination of appetizers, entrées, soups, salads and sushi dishes. As well, three signature recipes were revised, and six new cocktails joined the mix.
The changes were intended to diversify an already successful menu, while retaining the most popular selections. RA’s Executive Chef Tai Obata, who helped get RA Sushi off the ground in 1997, enhanced the menu selectively.
“I like to keep our most loyal customers on their toes, and introduce lively new flavors to offer them opportunities to experiment,” said Chef Obata. “Our new menu focuses on unique flavor combinations that still retain a classical technique – this way it will satisfy sushi novices and connoisseurs alike.”
Chef Obata earned his culinary arts degree in Japan at age 18 and has perfected his skills during the 26 years in the finest restaurants in Tokyo, New York, Chicago, Phoenix and San Francisco.
Six more appetizers now grace the menu, including “RA”ckin’ Shrimp: crispy rock shrimp served on a bed of mixed greens with a creamy ginger teriyaki dipping sauce ($10.50); and Pineapple Chicken: sautéed chicken with shiitake mushrooms, green and red peppers, onions and garlic, drizzled with a sweet pineapple teriyaki sauce ($8.50).
New sashimi selections include Kiwi Scallop Sashimi: sliced scallops and kiwi atop a mango wasabi sauce with sautéed pine and cashew nuts, drizzled with mango-tobiko sauce ($9.50); and Tunacado: seared Ahi tuna dusted with Japanese rice crackers and black sesame seeds, served with fresh avocado and a creamy ponzu dipping sauce ($10.50).
Joining a list of longtime favorite rolls – such as RA’s famous Tootsy Maki – are the New Zealand Roll: smoked salmon, cream cheese, and mango rolled in rice and seaweed, topped with scallops, kiwi, and sautéed pine and cashew nuts, drizzled with a sweet eel and mango sauce ($10.50); and Yellow Monkey Roll: roasted red peppers, marinated artichoke, and cream cheese rolled in rice and seaweed, topped with mango and cashew nuts, drizzled with eel and mango sauce ($9.50).
Chef Obata also revised the recipes for the Black Pepper Filet Medallions: served atop wasabi mashed potatoes and shiitake mushrooms ($22.50); Seared Ahi Tuna: miso marinated and served rare ($20); and Yuzu Halibut: braised in a creamy broth and served with spicy crispy rice ($18).
New cocktail recipes include Cucumber Martini, Red Lotus and The Grape Escape. And for those up for a healthy dose of innuendo, the Bangin’ Blueberry, Moanin’ Mango, and Effen Around in the RA are sure to satisfy.
RA Sushi’s kitchen and bar are open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and the sushi bar is open until midnight. Happy hour food and beverage specials are offered Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Moon Tuesdays

Again, THE place to be on Tuesday. The retractable roof is one of the key features of this club. I can't wait until I can see the "actual" moon directly over head. Tonight was FUN. My friends Leah, Sara, and Eric were all in attendance. Leah and Sara are the HOT blond and brunette in the photos. Hmmm, you might say, that could cover any girls at Moon. I think when you see the photos, you will know who they are (a hint, they are in the picture below). Eric, The Guy with The Hat, is either a model or a pimp, hahahaha. You choose. Oh yeah, can't forget my favorite gogo dancers at Moon, Shelly and Lauren. Thank you for all the poses ladies.

Tonight, the ladies of Red Models hosted Industry Night at Jet. I just have a great time when coming to Jet on Monday. Friday is pretty good too. My FAVORITE gogo/shot server is there on Mondays, her name is Megan. What a great person. Always easy to talk to and take photos of. Her photo is below.

Sundays @ Light

Tonight, I found the lovely ladies of Red Models, hosting the evening at Light....the club that started the whole concept of bottle service in Las Vegas. Light has held on to it's industry Sunday nights for a long time. This was before clubs THOUGHT they could be open on days other then Friday and Saturday. Now....the nightlife industry goes 7 days a week. I'd like to think Light had something to do with this.
You can find Light at Bellagio. It's sister Caramel, an "Ultra Lounge", is a mere 100 steps from Light. Which makes Caramel a nice jumping off point. In fact, Thursday is called Bounce, where they "encourage" you to go from Caramel to Light.

TAO LAS VEGAS Hosts Events Tuesday through Sunday Nights

TAO Las Vegas located on the Las Vegas Strip at the Venetian Resort~Hotel~Casino hosts weekly events for those seeking a trendy and stylish destination. The weekly events are as follows:
Temple Tuesday: TAO’s Ultra Lounge offers a relaxed atmosphere, casual attire and house music spun by resident DJ Galeano and special weekly guests. Doors open at 11 p.m. and bottle service is available. Admission is free.
Vinyl Wednesday: Come experience TAO’s newest night – Vinyl Wednesday. With a mixture of art and music, every week TAO will showcase a local emerging artist while a rotating list of celebrity DJs who will spin a mix of old school funk, hip-hop, classic tunes as well as modern alternative music with the resident DJs. Vinyl Wednesday is held in the intimate Ultra Lounge. Doors open at 11 p.m. and admission is free.
Worship Thursday: Where locals and the who’s who of the Las Vegas hospitality and entertainment industry worship all things nightlife. Resident DJ Five spins the hottest hip-hop, rock and 80’s classics. Bottle service is available. Locals are free with ID; all others $20.
Friday night: Resident DJ Reach spins an eclectic mix of high-energy hip-hop, Top 40, and other dance styles. Each week special guest DJs spin in TAO’s Opium Room. Local ladies are free with ID; all others $20.
Saturday night: TAO DJs keeps the crowd moving all night long with high-energy sets of current and classic dance hits in the nightclub while DJ Galeano spins today’s hottest tracks at TAO Beach. Special guest DJs spin in the Opium Room. Doors open at 9:30pm. and bottle service is available. Local ladies free with ID; out-of-town ladies $20; gentleman $30.
Sunset Sundays: Relax at TAO’s newest addition – TAO Beach. Sunset Sessions begins at 5:30 p.m. every Sunday, guests can lounge by the pool listening to the sounds of various local house DJs including Galeano, Chris Garcia and Digitalboy as well as superstar DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Julius Papp spinning some of today’s hottest global house tracks. Cabana rentals and bottle service are available as well as Asian-inspired poolside BBQ fare. Admission is free.
TAO Beach, Las Vegas’ hottest new beach club is now open from 10 a.m. to sunset seven days a week. Guests can enjoy high-end amenities such as iPod rentals with preprogrammed music, sunglass cleaning and personal misters as well as cuisine from Wolfgang Puck’s Riva.

Shame On You!!! As the N9NE Group would put it, What's Your Excuse??? Flat Tire, Dog Died, Sprained ankle, all of those are reasonable excuses to ditch work or school on Friday's to get to the HOTTEST party in Vegas, Ditch Friday's.

Moon Nightclub - Moon Tuesdays

For those you of you that haven't been to Moon, here's the run down.
Moon is easy to get around, even when it's packed. There are two outside decks, one upstairs and one downstairs. There is a "main room" with dance music and a separate room for house music. For those of you lucky enough, you can attain access to the Playboy club directly from Moon.
I really like Moon Nightclub because I see a lot of people I know. Which makes it a great environment to be in.
